As a teacher I’m so happy that you included helicopter parenting! Lots of parents need to be aware that their actions aren’t good for their children’s development!
Verbal/emotional/psychological abuse isn’t always overt, either. It can be subtle and easily dismissed by others. Things like gas lighting and making threats can seriously undermine a victim’s trust in their own perceptions of reality and their sense of security in their physical environment. Exposing children to the abuse of somebody else, like having children witness episodes of domestic violence, is also abusive and traumatizing. It’s important that people know about this and how hurtful abuse is in the long and short-term. It has certainly screwed with me.
